Holmen Meet 2010

The Dells Powerlifting Team traveled to Holmen to participate in their annual invite and there were 175 athletes lifting at the meet from all over the state of WI and MN. The Dells Boys ended up taking 1st place in the meet for Division II and this is the first time in 4 years of attending this invite that we have won the meet. The boys team was led by 1st place finishers Matt Grutza (275LBS) who had a whopping total of 1325 LBS and a school record 600 LB squat (picture of that massive squat is attached above) & Jimmy Steinhorst who had a total of 1075 LBS. Other place winners for the Varsity included

Kyle Economy (165 LBS) 2nd place 945 LBS

Vern Martin ( 275 LBS) 2nd place 975 LBS

Tom Pappas (220 LBS) 3rd place 1060 LBS

Tyler Hovland (132 LBS) 4th place 750 LBS

Garrett Volz (198 LBS) 6th place 1030 LBS

JV competitors for the boys included

Keegan Golz (132 LBS) - 445 LBS - this is an impressive total for Keegan and he increased by over 50 LBS from his last meet

I am so proud of Keegan and he is having so much fun

Chris Gantz (142 LBS) - 690 LBS

The girls team had a very impressive showing as well with several place winners on the varsity & JV

Sawyer Cimaroli (123 LBS) 2nd place 600 LBS

Nicole Gantz (142 LBS) 5th place 595 LBS

Emily Musaitef (165 LBS) 4th place 625 LBS

Katie Hovland - 8th grader 1st place JV 380 LBS

To date the Dells has 15 athletes qualified for the state meet in March 2010 at Seymour and about 3-4 kids who are right there. Next meet for us is Saturday Feb 20th at Necedah HS
